The people in my life

Happy Valentine's Day betches! I decided not to be a total troll this year and give some love to my favorite people.

You are the most talented and driven person I have known and not to mention, quite a fox. My heart melted when I met you. I could listen to records, watch VHS', smoke a joint with you and eat thai food every day for the rest of my life with you and be completely content. I love when you sing me to sleep with your guitar. I adore you, I think more than you could ever imagine. You are my lover and my best friend and I don't know who else I would call walking to and from work every day

You are the sister I never had, or as we sometimes put it, the Gayle to my Oprah. The ying to my yang. We balance each other out like a scale. I love growing up with you from wearing totally ugly awkward outfits when we were 14 to sharing bottles of wine on my roof in the sun when we were 22. I can't to see where our lives take us even if we're 3,000 miles apart.

It's like when I see you, we've never even been apart. Ditching high school to watch Mean Girls or saving your sister's life with a Cheez it. We both trip out about life and I dig it. We always have so much to say to each other in the little time we get to see each other....and we always end up at home with a burrito and Forensic Files and a sleepover because you're too scared to walk to your car. I love you so much and miss you every day.

To have known you since we were 12 and see you move to Portland and become the artist you have always had inside you makes me beam with pride. Words can truly not describe what you mean to me. You are a true artist with an eye for everything beautiful and I know we understand each other on a level that some can't comprehend. 'You are an individual seeking to become one with the ocean and stay with the flow of mother nature'

You inspired me to start taking photographs and comforted me so many times when I was in a lost stage in my life. Thank you for always keeping my life in order and letting me lay in your bed whenever I needed you. Friends like you are hard to come by. You make me laugh too hard and scare the bejesus out of me...

We read each others minds. We know what we're saying before we even say it and can literally finish each others sentences. We can wander around Russian Hill on Thanksgiving night after wine and weed brownies and have the best of times. You've stuck by me always. We're like friends that come as a package.

We're the worst of influences on each others but the cuddliest of friends. The situations we get ourselves into...I wouldn't change for the world. You are the funniest, wittiest person i've known and I am so lucky to dance all night with you or lay in bed and watch the Royal Tenenbaums.

You are truly my inspiration to live my life and the unconditional love you give me makes my heart hurt. I can only hope that I can be half the woman that you are. My friends are basically obsessed with you because you create the most loving, warming, welcoming enviornment and greet everyone with open arms. You already know how I feel about you. I've cried in your arms before thinking about not ever having you in my life. I know we would give each other everything in the world if we could. "All you need is a gay man's touch!"

You have never yelled at me once in my entire life. Your free spirit and wild ways are apparent in my personality every day and I would never replace you, no matter how nutty or "groovy" you are. Although some square, right-winged fucks might say you've done things that are wrong, you are perfect in my eyes. You've told me your biggest regrets and I forgive you for them, always. I am a daddy's girl because I had the most loving father in the world. I've never known a grown man who is comfortable enough to shed tears over animals, but your tenderness truly, truly raised me to be a compassionate person. I love you!!!

XOXO,
Megaline

All photos by Megan Robinson except the one of my mother, Nancy Robinson, looking like a hippie in the late 70's in Leucadia. The "Chipmunk" (he only ate nuts and wore a turban) took that one.

MORE FROTH

Just watched the movie Laurel Canyon last night. Heart heart, Frances McDormand. Love you.

Lower East Siders

I recently flew 5.5 hours via Virgin America (love, love, love Virgin...cheese plates and champagne, yes please!) for my 23rd birthday and to visit two of those dearest and nearest to my heart: Katherine Mendenhall and Joshua Shaub. Seriously had the besttt time. We wined, we dined, we danced, we laughed, we held hands, perused around the Lower East Side, stayed up all night, slept most of the day, woke up with glitter on our faces...

I kept a little book (one might call it a LOG) and pen on me at all times so I could remember where we went and what I liked. I forgot to do that when Jake, Loren, and I visited New York a couple years ago. I did start a page of "Joshisms" (out of control things that Josh says) - ie; "Katherine you were just so mean to me...it was sexual....my loins are churning..." - knocks over a glass of water - bails the restaurant.

Had a night out in Brooklyn: Joya Thai for dinner with Kat's sister (Hi Mary Anne...) and then to Commodore and Savalas's where we saw EVERYONE from San Francisco (Hi Danny, Patrick, Tori, Leif, Rayna, Meg, Miyako, David, etc etc...)

And cannot forget Bruschetteria. A tiny, tiny Italian place on Rivington. Lucky enough to get a window seat right when some people were leaving. BEST BRUSCHETTA, great selections of wines, and the owner is just cruising around talking to everyone. Xoxo Bruschetteria, I will be back.

PROOF:

Kat lives on Canal and Orchard in the LES. Walking distance to rad bars, shops, SOHO, and...Vanessa's Dumplings.

This was the first night I flew in. Josh, Kat, and I went for dinner and drinks (fighting a snowstorm) at Spitzer's on Rivington. The appetizers were amazinggg (roasted brussel sprouts with cranberries and nuts) as well as the main courses (I had the macaroni and cheese with truffle oil. I consider myself a mac and cheese connoissuer and this did not disappoint.)

This is my Katty, I don't know where. But this photo is the reason I love using film instead of digital.

Me, Joshua, and Katty on my 23rd birthday at Stanton Social (Stanton st.) Stanton Social is meant for sharing; and we had a plethura of dishes and cocktails. Wearing my new dress from Top Shop: a dark, navy blue lace dress with bell sleeves.
